I’ve been quiet on the old blogging front over the last week or so because I spent pretty much all of it at home. This meant I didn’t wear any make-up, so there was no need to apply any of my challenge lipsticks. I decided to spend some much needed time getting on top of boring house stuff I’d been putting off. My skin had also been really spotty. I thought there was no better time for a no make-up detox than the present. My doctor also prescribed me some cream to use twice daily and I’m pleased to report that it’s cleared up my spots completely. I did go to the gym twice during this period but again, I wore no make-up.
The weekend came and went with me ill with an upset stomach again. Not sure what that’s all about? I did get back some blood test results recently, stating my folate levels were low but I don’t think that has anything to do with my sporadic bouts of a dicky-tummy. I’m not going to lie, I did really miss not wearing any make-up for over a week. That is because make-up has always been and will always be the one constant thing in my life that can give me self-confidence. We all have that one thing. Make-up just happens to be mine.
Today I felt much better physically, but mentally, I felt quite anxious. I really needed to snap out of it as I was meeting my friend I used to work with for a cheeky Nando’s later. I watched a YouTube video by Allana Davison on ‘How to get through a shit day’. I’m a big advocate these days for anything self help orientated. I took her sage advice about self care and pampered myself. I dressed up in an outfit that made me feel really good and spent far too long on my make-up. It really worked! Today’s challenge lipstick is Sincere by theBalm. It’s a Matte liquid lipstick. I bought it in a 3 pack from TK Maxx for £12.99. The other 2 colours that came in the pack were Devoted and Honest. Sincere retails individually for £15.00 online at FEELUNIQUE.
Sincere is a standard nude colour. It’s OK. I’m not a massive nude fan, they just seem to wash me out unless I wear a smoky eye look with them. It’s not too drying and held up fairly well during my Nando’s gorge. It tastes minty. I don’t mind that but I know some people hate the smell and taste of mint, It makes my big sis heave. When I lived with her after uni, I used to clean my teeth with this toothpaste she had that tasted and smelt like chalk because she hates mint that much. I could have bought my own toothpaste, now I come to think of it, but since I was a little girl I’ve always had to use her stuff at any given opportunity! I guess it’s true what they say… old habits do die hard!
It was so lovely seeing my friend this evening, it had been a really long time since we’d last met up. She had some wonderful news that we were out celebrating. She’s having a baby! This means, soon she will have 3 children under the age of 4. Give that girl a medal immediately!
I’d like to dedicate this post to Sophie. Who is an awesome Mum to her 2 kids and who is an awesome friend to me. x
